The Thailand Honey Gold Mango—most commonly known by its traditional Thai name Nam Dok Mai (meaning “flower’s nectar”)—is a premium tropical fruit celebrated for its intense sweetness, rich aroma, and smooth, fiberless fresh.

Key Characteristics
  • Shape & Size: Elongated, slender, and slightly curved with a tapered point; individual fruits typically weigh between 300 to 500 grams (up to a pound or more).
  • Color: Light yellowish-green when young, transforming into a vibrant, deep golden-yellow peel as it ripens. The skin may develop slight wrinkles when fully ripe.
  • Flesh & Texture: Deep yellow, buttery, and completely free of stringy fibers. It has a smooth, creamy, melt-in-the-mouth consistency.
  • Flavor & Aroma: Highly aromatic with a rich, super-sweet, honey-like flavor profile paired with a delicate floral scent.
  • Core/Seed: Features a relatively thin and small “S”-shaped stone compared to ordinary mango varieties, leaving a generous amount of edible pulp.

Culinary Uses & Preparation

  • Popular Dishes: Widely recognized as the quintessential choice for classic Thai mango sticky rice, fresh fruit platters, tropical salads, salsas, and smoothies.

  • How to Cut: Slice flat past the central seed from top to bottom, score the flesh in a criss-cross pattern without piercing through the peel, invert the skin upwards, and slide a knife under the cubes.
